Permoxin: Insecticidal Pyrethrin Spray and Rinse

Permoxin is a highly effective insecticidal spray or rinse designed to control flies, ticks, and biting insects. It also aids in managing Queensland Itch.

Composition:
Permethrin (25:75 cis) 40 g/L.

Actions

Permoxin features a third-generation synthetic pyrethroid that targets the neuromuscular systems of flies and fleas. Unlike natural pyrethrins, pyrethroids like permethrin are more photostable, providing extended protection. The specific formulation of Permethrin (25:75) minimizes dermal irritation and systemic toxicity, making it one of the safest choices among synthetic pyrethroids. Additionally, permethrin exhibits insect repellent properties, helping to treat and prevent insect bite allergies.

Indications

Permoxin is effective against a wide range of pests, including:

  • Flies: Pyrethroid-sensitive species such as Haematobia irritans exigua and Stomoxys calcitrans on horses.
  • Biting Insects: Including Culicoides species on horses.
  • Fleas: Ctenocephalides felis and Ctenocephalides canis on dogs.
  • Flea Allergy Dermatitis: Commonly known as summer eczema in dogs.
  • Queensland Itch: Frequently affecting horses.
  • Ticks: Including Rhipicephalus species and paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyclus) on dogs.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable for use on cats or puppies under 12 weeks of age.
  • While Permoxin is typically diluted with water, it can also be diluted with methylated spirits for quicker drying. Avoid using methylated spirits on broken skin, as this can cause stinging and irritation.

Precautions

  • Prevent contact with the animal’s eyes and mouth.

Directions for Use

For Spray Application:

  1. Mixing: Combine 10 mL of Permoxin with 400 mL of water (or methylated spirits for faster drying).
  2. Application: Spray the entire animal thoroughly, ensuring complete coverage, and allow the coat to dry.

For Rinse Application:

  1. Mixing: Dilute 10 mL of Permoxin in 400 mL of water.
  2. Application: Apply the solution to a wet coat after shampooing and rinsing, or to a dry coat. Use a sponge to help distribute the product; foaming does not affect its efficacy.

Treatment Recommendations:

  • For insect bite allergies, spray daily until symptoms improve, then use as needed.
  • For flea control, apply at least every seven days.
  • For tick control, use as a rinse every seven days. Daily inspections of the animal are essential in areas where paralysis ticks are prevalent.

With regular use and proper application, Permoxin effectively manages common pests, ensuring the comfort and health of your pets.

Safety Directions

In case of poisoning, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. In Australia, call 131 126.

Vet Shed Nurse Tip:  After applying the Permoxin with a sponge, any leftover product can be transferred to a spray bottle. Use this to apply between baths on your pet, or spray it on their dog bed. It’s also great for spraying the exterior of your horse's rug for added protection.

No Flies On Us.

By: Rhonda Kneebone on 30 March 2016
Always looking to save money I found The Vet Shed had the best price for Permoxin. Having bought from them before I knew delivery would be swift, which it was. I only use it in summer and early autumn for flies and mosquitos and it works great. Very happy with my experience with The Vet Shed, with a very easy website to navigate and order from.

Paralysis Tick Problems.

By: Trevor Large on 20 June 2015
After our beautiful long haired German Shepherd, Sasha, nearly died from Paralysis ticks, ( 3 of at the same time ) ,even though I was using a Preventick Collar, and Frontline Plus spot on, I decided that there had to be a better more reliable product out there somewhere. I read about a product called PERMOXIN on the Internet and decided to give it a go. I have used a 1lt bottle to date, and am about to start on my second bottle. To date I have not sighted a tick of any kind. I know that this product may not be ' the be all and end all' of Ticks under all circumstances, but to date I am over the moon about it. I use it with confidence and it is so easy to use. 10ml to 400ml of water, spray it all over her coat, and hopefully I will never sight a Tick on her again. TOP PRODUCT.

Save money and buy Permoxin from the Vet Shed

13 September 2013
I am very happy, thanks. I normally pay WAY too much for 250mls of Permoxin from the local pet store. Buying the 1 litre from the Vet Shed has saved me a lot of money. It is a brilliant product for keeping the ticks and fleas at bay. I always give Sally the dog a rinse after her bath, then the odd spray between baths. No ticks or fleas here. Thanks Vet Shed.

Permoxin has been a godsend. We breed dogs and as

By: Shellee on 30 June 2011
Permoxin has been a godsend. We breed dogs and as we have alot of dogs love to find something that is value for money. Also as a product i have found nothing better. I have used tick collars, as well as proban tablets, but i love this stuff. It is easy to use and works really well. I have not found a tick on my dogs since using, and we live in a bushy area on acreage. I use it every second day, although it says to use weekly which i will probably do in winter, when ticks aren't as prevalent. I love it and highly recommmend it.
