Advocate Dog
Advocate for dogs is unique. It is the first product to treat, protect against and prevent infection by covering more aspects of parasite control than any other comparable product. Advocate is an easy to apply topical formulation that will give you the peace of mind that you want. With monthly application, you can be assured that Advocate will not only treat and control fleas, but also prevent heartworm as well as gastro-intestinal worms with the added benefit of the treatment of mites and lice, including sarcoptic mange mites. Advocate remains effective after swimming, bathing or exposure to rain.
Composition Imidacloprid 100 g/L, moxidectin 25 g/L.
One application lasts for a month.
Contraindications Administration of Advocate for Dogs to cats.
Precautions Use with caution in sick, debilitated or underweight animals. Advocate has no strong chemical smell. The liquid vehicle in Advocate may discolour certain surfaces and fabrics. Exclude the animal from contact with such surfaces for 15 minutes after treatment.
Directions for use 1 tube applied in a single spot between the shoulder blades. Puppies may be treated with Advocate from 7 weeks of age.. For control of roundworms and hookworms, puppies require worming at 2, 4 and 8 weeks of age. When worming puppies prior to commencing Advocate, use a specific worming agent such as Drontal. Once treatment with Advocate every month is commenced, worms will be continuously controlled.
Flea control and prevention. Advocate has been shown to kill adult and larval fleas within 20 minutes of contact by absorption via the flea intersegmental membranes, and stops fleas from feeding in three to five minutes. Fleas are not required to bite the animal to receive a lethal dose. The successive feeding activity of fleas on pets may elicit a hypersensitivity skin disorder known as flea allergy dermatitis. Treatment of pets with Advocate rapidly kills fleas and reduces the incidence of this condition.
Advocate may be used as the only product for flea control, as it breaks the flea life cycle and kills fleas emerging from the environment to reinfest the dog. Heartworm prevention. Treatment with Advocate should start one month before the first exposure to mosquitoes. Advocate must be applied at one month intervals during the time of the year when mosquitoes (which carry and transmit the heartworm larvae) are present. In many areas of Australia, continuous, year round heartworm prevention is recommended. To establish a routine, it is recommended that the same day or date be used each month to administer Advocate. When replacing another heartworm preventive product, the first treatment with Advocate must be given within one month of the last dose of the previous product.
Worm control and prevention. Advocate controls the major gastrointestinal nematodes of dogs but does not control tapeworms. In order to control tapeworms use Droncit or Virbac Tapewormer tablets as appropriate. Dogs can become reinfested with worms, but regular use of Advocate will remove them.
Treatment and control of sarcoptic mange. Advocate has been shown to eliminate 100% of sarcoptic mites (Sarcoptes scabiei) after a single dose. A second dose of Advocate a month later will result in continued improvement of the clinical signs associated with sarcoptic mange. Monthly application of Advocate will control any subsequent sarcoptic mite infestation.
Treatment and control of ear mites. Advocate is highly efficacious as a single dose for the treatment of ear mites (Otodectes cynotis). Monthly application of Advocate will control any subsequent ear mite infestation.
Advocate remains efficacious following shampoo treatment, swimming or exposure to rain.

Most effective
By: Debra Devantier on 2 February 2019I have a mini foxie 2 years old that had fleas galore but never seem to scratch. I bathed him but that never seemed to kill them all. So I got advocate. Put it on him by the next day no fleas. Absolutely amazing product plus it is for more than just fleas. Highly recommend it

Advocate Green 3pk[up to 4kgs] For Dogs DO NOT use
By: Stephanie on 30 June 2011Advocate Green 3pk[up to 4kgs] For Dogs DO NOT use on Cats Is the best flea, tick, heart-worm almost everything control on the market for dogs I think you can get it for all sizes right up to the largest dogs, it even protects them from Mosquito's and ear mites and most worms. This stuff is brilliant I have been using it for years for my dogs and I have never once seen any bad reactions. It is the only one I will ever use. The Vet Shed has the best prices on the net in Australia. This one (Advocate Green)can be used for the smallest breed up to Silky terrier and Jack Russell size. You do need to treat them for tapeworms separately I use Ambex Two x 100 tabs which The VET SHED sells as well and is very economical I generally only use the Ambex following dosage directions once per every second application of Advocate but at least 2 weeks after the application. It has been recommended that you can use Drontal but Drontal also treats the same worms as Ambex. Ambex has a good reputation as a animal wormer with no bad side effects reported that I could find and none I have seen in my animals and I use Ambex on my dogs and cats.
