Training Halter Range - Black Dog Wear’s Popular Training Halter
Sizes: Mini/ XSmall, Small, Medium, Large & XLarge
The Black Dog Wear Training Halter is a classic, time-tested training tool that has been the preferred choice for professional trainers for many years. Designed to offer comfort and control, this halter ensures a positive experience for both you and your dog during walks and training sessions.
Key Features:
-
Classic Design for Effective Control: The halter connects to the lead beneath your dog's jaw, providing improved control and a more comfortable fit than traditional collars. This innovative design has made it the go-to option for trainers around the world.
-
Dynamic and Comfortable Fit: The halter moves naturally with your dog, allowing the Nose Bridge strap to stay in a consistent position. This prevents the halter from riding up near your dog’s eyes, ensuring they stay comfortable and focused during training sessions.
-
Positive Training Experience: When introducing the halter to your dog, rewarding them with treats helps ease the transition. Consistent positive reinforcement, especially during the first few days, helps your dog adjust quickly and work well on lead.
Easy Fitting:
Fitting the Black Dog Training Halter is simple and straightforward. Follow these easy steps for a comfortable and secure fit:
-
Adjust the Neck Strap: Set the neck strap to fit snugly and comfortably high on your dog's neck. It should be tight but not restrictive. Remove the halter after this step.
-
Fit the Nose Strap: Slide the nose strap over your dog’s muzzle. Offering a treat at this stage helps reassure your dog and make them more comfortable.
-
Secure the Neck Strap: Buckle the neck strap around your dog’s neck securely.
-
Adjust the Lead Ring: Pull down gently on the lead ring to adjust the halter’s fit around your dog’s face.
-
Set the Cord Lock: Slide the cord lock to about 1cm below the D-ring tab under your dog’s throat to finalize the fit.
-
Attach the Lead: Secure the lead to the O-ring on the cord, and your dog is ready to go!
Measuring Your Dog for the Perfect Fit:
To ensure the best fit for your dog, it’s important to measure their neck properly. Use a soft tape measure around your dog’s neck, just behind their ears, where the neck strap will sit. Take a snug-to-tight measurement, ensuring comfort and security.
Important Tips:
- If your dog falls between two sizes, it’s generally recommended to choose the smaller size for a more secure fit.
- For growing dogs, choose the larger size to accommodate future growth.
Check your dog’s neck measurement against the size chart provided (typically marked in orange) to find the right Training Halter for them.
- MINI Adjustable to fit neck from 20 to 35cm
- SMALL Adjustable to fit neck from 27 to 37cm
- MEDIUM Adjustable to fit neck from 35 to 52cm
- LARGE Adjustable to fit neck from 50 to 73cm
Important Safety Notes:
-
Always supervise your dog when they are wearing the halter. Since the cord is close to their teeth, it could be chewed through if left unsupervised.
-
NEVER use the halter attached to the O-ring without the noseband properly fitted around your dog's nose. Doing so could place undue stress on the collar strap and the O-ring.
-
All webbing and components of the Black Dog Training Halter are strength tested to ensure they won’t snap or break, keeping your dog safe and secure during training.
The Black Dog Training Halter offers a comfortable, adjustable, and reliable way to train your dog, giving you the control you need while keeping them comfortable and calm. With proper fitting and supervision, it’s the ideal tool for positive reinforcement during walks and training.

Fantastic! Makes walking a joy.
By: Dominique on 6 August 2018Our dog trainer recommended this for our rescue staffy as he loves to pull and we had tried everything. It's made a huge difference and our walks are really enjoyable again. It's also helped us to focus on other areas of training, instead of just being dragged along all the time. Would recommend it to everyone experiencing issues with pulling.

LOVE it!!!
By: Erin on 21 November 2017We have a 50kg rescue German Shepherd who gets incredibly over-excited and pulls like anything once we leave the gate. Was honestly sceptical as we've purchased so many leads/halters to stop his pulling as we continue to train him that did absolutely nothing. This halter has been the very thing we needed! He's not pulling anywhere near as much which now makes walks enjoyable for us all. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Black dog keeps me whole
By: Naomi on 9 June 2014This is the 2nd black dog halter I've bought. It's great for walking my rather rambunctious GSP. Instead of having my arm ripped out its socket, they walk on their lead. It's still not perfect but it is now a pleasure to walk the dog.

Training halter
By: Jacqui on 6 June 2014This halter is brilliant as it doesn't cut across the dog's mouth and it fits really snugly around the neck and nose yet gives movement for the lead underneath so that the dog can move around a fair bit so long as they are where you want them. It doesn't roll round the side or move up into their eyes as much as other haltis I have used!
