Swat Insecticide for Horses is a ready-to-use, highly effective fly and midge control solution, specifically designed to protect horses from biting and nuisance flies, including those that cause Queensland Itch. Containing the pyrethroid insecticide Permethrin, this oil-based formulation provides long-lasting, residual protection, ensuring your horse stays comfortable and protected from harmful pests.

Application Rates:

• Biting Flies (Buffalo Fly, Stable Fly, House Fly, Sand Fly, and Biting Midges):
  • Apply 6 mL per 100 kg body weight, up to a maximum of 30 mL per horse.
• Queensland Itch:
  • Apply 3 mL per 100 kg body weight, reapplying weekly, but not more than once every 7 days.

Coverage:

• One 500 mL bottle provides up to 16 applications for a single horse, delivering up to 4 months of protection.
• Depending on the weight of the horse, one 500 mL bottle can treat 16 to 27 horses for biting and nuisance flies.

Important Notes:

• Regular Application: For effective control, apply once a week or as needed based on fly pressure.
• Fly Pressure & Sweat: The duration and effectiveness may be reduced in high fly pressure areas or on working horses due to perspiration.

Important Note: Due to recent manufacturing changes, this product no longer includes an applicator mitt.

Vet Shed Nurse Tip: Since Swat no longer includes an applicator mitt, make sure you have an alternative tool for application. If you do not have an applicator mitt a Chux cloth works well for this purpose. After use, store the cloth in an airtight container to keep it moist and ready for the next application. Additionally, be sure to wear gloves when applying, as it can be difficult to avoid getting the product on your hands.
