Direa tablets are a safe and palatable tablet to help in the treatment of diarrhoea and gas in dogs and cats. Direa tablets help protect the intestinal mucosa by absorbing toxins, and helps to restore the balance of the intestinal flora.
Registered Name Direa Antidiarrhoeal Tablets for Dogs and Cats
Composition Crospovidone.
Actions Crospovidone has amphoteric properties and so stabilises the pH of the gut. It protects the intestinal mucosa by adsorbing toxins, and maintains and helps restore the balance of the intestinal flora. It is insoluble in water.
Indications Aid in the management of diarrhoea and tympany caused by disorders of osmosis, secretion, permeability or motility brought about by infectious agents, food poisoning, dietary changes, and bacterial overgrowth in dogs and cats.
Complement to oral antibiotic therapy.
Prophylactic against gastrointestinal disturbances following gastrointestinal surgery.
Premedication to reduce intestinal gases before radiology.
Dosage and Administration Dogs, cats. 1 tablet/10 kg bodyweight twice daily for three to four days.

By: Isabella on 30 June 2011This is a very effective product but I find that you have to use quite a bit of it to work. It is also a little difficult to give to a cat as the portion is very large. I suggest you use a pill inserter. You can try and break it up and mix it into food.
