Ipakitine is a calcium and dietary fiber supplement specifically formulated for cats and dogs to support the management of renal (kidney) failure. As a complementary therapy, Ipakitine helps manage phosphate levels and promotes overall kidney health. It is essential to follow your veterinarian's instructions for dosing and administration to ensure optimal results for your pet.
Key Benefits:
-
Palatable and Easy to Accept
Ipakitine is designed to be highly palatable, making it an excellent choice for pets who are reluctant to eat special renal diets. This is especially beneficial for older cats, who can be particularly sensitive to changes in their diet. If your pet has been diagnosed with kidney disease, maintaining a proper diet is crucial, and Ipakitine can make that process much easier by being an appealing supplement to their food. -
Simple to Use
Ipakitine is easy to incorporate into your pet’s daily routine. You can simply mix it with their food or sprinkle it on top as a food topper. This flexibility allows for a stress-free administration experience, whether your pet is on a special renal diet or a regular meal plan. -
Cost-Effective Solution
A 50g pot of Ipakitine offers excellent value, lasting up to 25 days for a 5kg cat. This cost-effective supplement provides essential kidney suppor, making it an affordable addition to your pet’s care plan. -
Flexible and Compatible
Ipakitine is versatile and can be used alone or in conjunction with other kidney disease management strategies. Whether your pet is on a prescribed renal diet, receiving other medications, or undergoing alternative therapies, Ipakitine can be easily incorporated into their treatment plan. It’s designed to work alongside, not replace, other forms of kidney support.
How Ipakitine Works:
Ipakitine contains active ingredients that function as phosphate binders, helping to reduce the absorption of phosphates from the intestines. Phosphate restriction is a key aspect of managing kidney disease, as high phosphate levels can worsen kidney function. By binding phosphates, Ipakitine helps mimic or enhance the effects of a phosphate-restricted diet, supporting the delicate balance required for renal health.
In addition to phosphate binding, Ipakitine also helps reduce the absorption of uraemic toxins that can build up in the bloodstream due to kidney dysfunction. These toxins can impair kidney function and contribute to the symptoms of uraemia, such as loss of appetite, nausea, and lethargy. By reducing the absorption of these harmful substances, Ipakitine supports your pet's kidney function, helping to maintain a better quality of life.
Together, these dual actions—phosphate binding and toxin reduction—work synergistically to support kidney health and improve the overall management of renal failure in pets. Ipakitine offers a comprehensive, non-invasive approach to helping your pet live comfortably and stay healthier for longer with kidney disease.
Always consult with your veterinarian before starting any new supplement or treatment to ensure it is appropriate for your pet’s specific needs.
Giving Ipakitine to your pet
Your veterinary surgeon will advise you on the amount that your cat or dog will need, here are the levels that are usually recommended:
1g / 5kg (1 level scoop) body weight twice a day.
Administration table
Slightly moisten the food if your pet eats a dry diet, to get the powder to stick to it.

It is helping my senior cat
By: Heather on 21 July 2022In April 2020, my now 15 year old cat was diagnosed with stage 2 renal failure. She didn't like the wet renal food not matter how much I tried. My vet suggested that I could feed her what she liked to eat by adding this powder. Candy is thin, so getting her to eat is my priority. Over 2 years later and so far her blood tests are still showing that is stable at stage 2. I believe this powder has really helped. I would recommend trying it if you have a pet with renal disease.

Ipakatine Powder
By: Elaine Pearce on 21 February 2016I have two dogs in chronic renal failure. One, Senna was diagnosed approx 3 years ago when she was 11 and the other, Brock 4 years ago when he was 13. They have been on ipakatine since being diagnosed and are both doing well. Years ago I had another dog in CRF who only lasted 3 1/2 months between diagnosis and having to be euthanised. She was not given Ipakatine so I attribute Senna and Brocks longer life with the disease to the ipakatine.
