Composition: Miconazole Nitrate 20 g/L, Chlorhexidine Gluconate 20 g/L

Malaseb Shampoo combines two powerful active ingredients, Miconazole and Chlorhexidine, to provide a comprehensive solution for various skin infections. Miconazole, a synthetic imidazole derivative, is highly effective against the yeast Malassezia pachydermatis, the dermatophytes Microsporum gypseum, M. canis, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes, as well as Gram-positive bacteria. Chlorhexidine offers broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, moulds, and fungi.
This combination makes Malaseb highly effective in treating seborrhoeic dermatitis and bacterial infections caused by Staphylococcus intermedius, a common pathogen in dogs and cats. The presence of Malassezia can encourage the overgrowth of Staph. intermedius, leading to bacterial dermatitis. Malaseb works to kill the causative organisms and help reduce the symptoms of these skin infections.
Indications:
Malaseb is recommended for:
- Seborrhoeic dermatitis associated with Staphylococcus intermedius and Malassezia pachydermatis.
- Treatment of dermatophyte infections (ringworm) caused by Microsporum canis, M. gypseum, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes in dogs and cats.
- Malaseb aids in the clinical resolution of dermatophyte infections by killing infective spores and shortening the time to recovery.
Directions for Use:
- Wet the animal thoroughly with clean water.
- Apply the foam to several points on the animal’s coat and massage it in.
- For better lather and coverage, use a sponge to ensure penetration of the coat.
- Pay special attention to areas where the causative organisms are likely to hide, such as the lips, under the tail, and between the toes.
- Allow the foam to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with clean water.
- Repeat the treatment twice a week until symptoms improve, then reduce to weekly use, or as advised by your veterinarian.
Note: For dermatophytosis (ringworm), it is essential to treat all in-contact animals to prevent the infection from spreading and to minimize environmental contamination.

By: Janet on 9 September 2022The vet I visit with my 2 dogs recommended Malaseb shampoo many years ago to help maintain healthy skin and fur for my fur babies. I have always used this product at bath time. It is difficult to leave on for 10 minutes during Winter (as they tend to shiver) however their skin is always clean and free of any problems. This product is expensive but I am more concerned that my pets are healthy hence I use a measuring cup at bath time to not waste this shampoo as we do tend to use several bottles a year. I thoroughly recommend this product.

He had previosly big problems whith itching, ear infections and hotspots, all this because of food allergies according to the wet. By: Jeni on 30 June 2011Our wee Jack x Chihuahua (4kg) used to get itchy then baldy feet when coming home after being out in the wet (even after drying before getting in the car or house), our vet said it was a yeast infection and to try Malaseb - it's awesome just lather the feet up and leave in the shower as you do the rest of him and he comes out squeaky clean and feet have never been itchy since using this. Honest it's the best, he used to eat his feet now he's just a cute little darling :-)
