Regular treatment is crucial for maintaining the health of poultry, as internal parasites can lead to severe issues if left unchecked. Laying Hen Wormout Solution has been carefully developed to offer a straightforward in-water treatment for intestinal parasites in laying hens, ensuring there is no delay in egg consumption.
This solution effectively targets the three most significant intestinal worms in laying hens: large roundworm (Ascaridia galli), caecal worm (Heterakis gallinae), and hairworm (Capillaria spp.), providing comprehensive treatment in one go.
Transmission of worms usually occurs from one bird to another through the fecal-oral route. This means that worm eggs are passed in droppings and then consumed by birds as they peck and scratch around in the environment. Additionally, ingestion of infected earthworms, slugs, and other secondary hosts can also contribute to the spread of parasitic worms.
The most common intestinal worms affecting laying hens include large roundworms, caecal worms, and hairworms. Large roundworms are particularly concerning as they can cause intestinal blockages and even death in severe cases. Despite being barely visible to the naked eye, hairworms can still pose a significant threat to poultry health. Caecal worms, with their resilient eggs, can persist in the environment for months.
Symptoms of worm infection may include reduced appetite, weight loss, pale combs due to anemia, and intermittent diarrhea. Egg production may also decline, with eggs being smaller, having paler yolks, and exhibiting fragile shells. In severe cases, worms can lead to blockages, intestinal damage, and interfere with nutrient absorption in chickens.
Regular treatment, ideally administered every three months, is essential for controlling parasites and preventing potential health complications associated with infestation.
Vetafarm Laying Hen Wormout Solution offers simultaneous treatment for the sensitive strains of the three key intestinal worms in laying hens. Importantly, there is no waiting period after treatment, ensuring that eggs can be safely consumed following hen treatment.
Restraints: DO NOT USE less than 7 days before slaughter for human consumption.
Dosage and Administration:
Do not treat in extremely hot weather due to increased water consumption.
Dilute Laying Hen Wormout Solution with drinking water at a rate of 50mL solution per L of water.
Repeat treatment once every three months (4 times per year).
For maximum efficiency against worms, the medicated drinking water must be consumed in the shortest possible time. Water should be withheld from the birds 2 hours before nightfall. Medicated water should be supplied the following morning. Replace the medicated water with fresh water as soon as it is all consumed or after 8 hours. Medicated water remaining at the end of the treatment period is to be discarded and containers flushed out with fresh water.
For best results with medicated drinking water:
1 Administer medicated drinking water in the drinkers that the birds are accustomed to using.
2 Avoid treating on cold or wet days when normal water consumption is reduced.
